Getting an exhibit to us · by post, or ten drop-off points
Send an exhibit in. Preserve it first; then the post, or one of ten drop-off points.
We work by post from anywhere in the UK. Three things matter before anything is sent: preserve the device, stop using it and keep it powered off, because every use overwrites the artefacts an examination relies on; gather the authority we will ask to see; and tell us whether you are sending the drive alone or the whole device. An examiner replies within a working day with the authority we need, the posting address, the nearest of ten drop-off points and a booking sheet. Would you sooner talk it through? The telephone is answered by an examiner.

How to send an exhibit in.
Every document, out in the open.
Every examination runs on one published set of paperwork — Terms of service (PDF), including the clause on authority, scope and reports. The contract is held by Easy Data Recovery Ltd, company number NI625698, ICO registration ZC173784, trading on this site as Forensic Data Recovery. We examine devices only for people and organisations with lawful authority over them. VAT is charged at the standard rate on every figure quoted.
The questions that come up first.
Why is there no address on the site?
So that every parcel that arrives is already matched to an enquiry and an authority check. The posting address comes by email with a booking sheet; you can also hand the sealed parcel in at one of ten drop-off points.
Can you collect, or image on site?
We work from exhibits posted or handed in. Where time is critical, an injunction or a departing employee, ask at the first conversation about urgent preservation imaging.
Should I send the whole computer?
Usually the drive alone is enough; where the storage is soldered in, the whole laptop comes in. Tell us the make and model and we will advise.
Do you examine phones?
No. Mobile phones are not examined on this service.
Nothing is examined before authority is checked.
The first conversation is free. Before a chargeable minute is spent you get the scope and the fee in writing.
